Mr. Anthony Ritch, Chair of the Presidential Search Committee and Deputy Chair of the UCCI Board of Governors provides the following update on the current status of the recruitment of the next President of University College.
On Monday, May 28th, the Presidential Search Committee will be welcoming on campus a fourth candidate to meet faculty and staff, to tour the campus and to the final round interview by the Committee, before any final decisions are made. In the Cayman context, the visit also provides an opportunity for the candidate and her family to determine whether they can see making our Islands their home for the term as President.
Recruitment regularly operates on a confidential basis. However, UCCI entered this public phase of the recruitment process with visits on campus by the first three candidates who advanced to the final round of interviews, during the period April 20th to 23rd. A fourth candidate could not be scheduled on short notice at that time.
Recruitment activities remain active, as two of the candidates who visited the campus have withdrawn. Following the procedure set out under section 27 of the Public Authorities Law, background checks and candidate reference checking are the responsibility of the Board, following the interview panel ranking process. References are requested of candidates still active after the campus visits and final round interviews. A final recommendation will follow completion of background and reference checking and consultation with the Minister of Education. We will keep the community posted on any further public phases of the process.
At this point of the recruitment process, there have been no offers of employment. The Executive Committee has made no recommendation to the Board, and therefore the Board has made no recommendation for approval by the Minister of Education under the University College Law. Only when the recruitment process is complete we will be in a position to announce the new President of UCCI.
